Mission Statement

Inequalities in health care among populations that do not have access to lifesaving treatment result in greater incidences of death and disease, especially when dealing with the health of the heart. Cardiovascular disease and stroke are among the top killers, even though they are effectively TREATABLE and CURABLE. The Dr. Fayaz Shawl Philanthropic Foundation, Inc. ("The Foundation") is dedicated to its mission of establishing specialty cardiac hospital facilities wherever deemed essential to treat the indigenous that are impoverished and who cannot afford the cost of needed lifesaving cardiovascular medical attention.

The Foundation's philosophy, where there is life, there is hope, is the basis of its mission and the impetus to accomplishing The Foundation's goals. Improving the quality of life for those who have cardiovascular disease and educating medical professionals globally and locally with the latest, and least invasive, technologies and treatments to address these target populations, are the fundamental goals of the Foundation.

The Foundation's Founder, Dr. Fayaz Shawl, along with Lifesaving Partners like you - share a passion - to improve the quality of life for patients with cardiovascular disease, who must have safe, effective treatment in order to live.

Having accomplished a world record of over 19,000 interventional cardiac procedures (i.e., without open heart surgery) since 1988, without a single death during interventional procedures conducted in a catheterization laboratory ("Cath Lab"), due to his innovation, the Percutaneous Bypass Support System, Dr. Shawl's expertise and results in this field have been recognized globally. Not surprisingly, he is continuously inundated by people all over the world requesting his specialized interventional expertise and services. Unfortunately, there is just so much that one man can do. But such is Dr. Shawl's desire in restoring a life that otherwise would cease to exist, he has dedicated himself to using all of his talent, knowledge and experience to teach other medical professionals around the world (see video here) the life-saving techniques and skills which he has developed and honed so that these medical professionals can in turn serve their fellow brethren wherever located in the world.

This benevolent doctor has devoted much time, energy and personal finances in the past furthering this mission, and continues to do so today by traveling from village to village in remote areas of India, Pakistan, South America, South Asia, South Asia, and the Middle East to assist in and perform intricate interventional procedures as a means of training local medical professionals. However, the need is overwhelming and the financial drain is more than one doctor can bear. Therefore, this Foundation is making its appeal to humanitarians, including patients and families who have been able to benefit from Dr. Shawl's expertise and techniques, all over the world to "give back" some of their monetary blessings so that others might live.

In addition to funding the training of medical professionals all over the world in the most current cardiac intervention techniques and procedures, The Foundation plans to build and operate specialty cardiac hospital facilities, staffed by medical professionals trained in such techniques and procedures, wherever The Foundation deems it essential to treat the indigenous population who are impoverished and cannot afford the cost of such medical attention; human beings like you and I, who are, unfortunately, faced with a heart malady or a stroke that could result in death if it were not for kind benefactors like yourself assisting financially through this Foundation. It is the hope of The Foundation that it will be able to provide its hospital services to all in need whether or not they can afford to pay for such services.

Srinagar in Kashmir, India, the birth place of Dr. Shawl, will be the locale for the first cardiac specialty hospital. (see pictures of Kashmir) Dr. Shawl is very keen to give practical shape to his vision of “good health” for the Kashmiri people. He is in the process of finalizing the purchase of a plot of land in the foothills of the Zabarwan range near the picturesque Nishat Garden area. The Foundation intends to build a 50-bed cardiac specialty hospital along with a cardiac wellness Center on this land. This Cardiac wellness center will educate and promote healthy living habits, which is essential in the prevention of heart disease. After the completion of this Center, The Foundation plans to set up additional cardiac specialty hospitals in other areas of the world, including Washington, D.C. These cardiac specialty centers will treat the underprivileged at no cost regardless of the patient's ethnicity, religious preference, or country of origin. However, there will charges to those who can afford to pay for these highly specialized quality services.
